At Vacation Benalmádena, we’ve decided to take another step in our commitment to the local community by sponsoring Club Balonmano Maravillas, the handball team of Colegio Maravillas in Benalmádena, one of the most well-regarded schools in the area.
This club boasts over 30 years of history and represents not only a top-level sports academy but also a true school of values. Today, more than 250 boys and girls are part of the club, divided among federated teams and beginner groups, training and competing each week as representatives of the school and the municipality.
A sporting and educational benchmark
Club Balonmano Maravillas is about more than just competing. Its main goal is to shape individuals through sport, promoting values such as teamwork, respect, responsibility and commitment.
It all begins with “la escuelita”, a non-competitive stage for children aged 5 to Year 4 of primary school, where the most important thing is to enjoy, learn and be part of a team. From there, young players can progress through the different age groups (alevín, infantil, cadete and juvenil) until they reach the senior team, which allows them to continue playing even after finishing school.
Currently, the senior men’s team competes in the 2nd National Division and the women’s team in the 1st National Division. Many of the club’s teams are regulars in the final stages of regional and national championships.
Outstanding sporting achievements
In just the 2024/2025 season, the club has achieved results such as:
- Senior Women’s: National sector champions and promotion to División de Honor Plata.
- Senior Men’s: 3rd in Andalusia and ranked in the national Top 24.
- Infantil A Girls: Málaga champions and national Top 24.
- Alevín Boys and Girls: Strong presence in the Andalusian championships.
In addition, the club’s track record in recent years includes numerous provincial and regional championships, as well as medals in the Spanish National Championship.
Much more than handball
Club Balonmano Maravillas also organises and takes part in events that bring together hundreds of people. Among them is the Memorial Don Carlos Hernández, an annual tournament held in tribute to the club’s founder. It takes place at the school’s facilities and welcomes over 1,000 attendees. The club is also a host venue for one of the Diputación de Málaga’s gatherings, which brings together teams from across the province.
Why did we decide to become sponsors?
Some projects simply make sense to support. In our case, we did so because we believe in the importance of giving something back to Benalmádena, a town that gives us so much.
Club Balonmano Maravillas represents many families in the area, many of them connected to Colegio Maravillas, and carries the name of Benalmádena to tournaments, events and championships both within and beyond the province. Supporting them is, for us, a way to accompany and strengthen something that already exists, something that works well and contributes a great deal to the community.
We also believe it’s important to give visibility to these types of initiatives. Because while some clubs function as showcases, this one functions as a school. And that is truly valuable.
Being present as sponsors on their kits or at their events, such as the Memorial Don Carlos Hernández or the gatherings organised by the Diputación, is not a matter of image. It’s a way of participating, being close, and contributing to the continued growth of a project without losing its essence.
